France: Right now, Paris and its residents are experiencing an event that terrifies every one of its wonderful inhabitants. Just a few days ago, I was walking in front of the most-visited monument in France—a place that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. I am referring to a monument that made me shout for joy as I approached this magnificent symbol of friendship and unity; that is what the Eiffel Tower in Paris represents to me.I wish I could put into words what it meant to me—the overwhelming emotion I felt standing at the foot ofthe Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. beautiful, striking, powerful, and full of life—oh yes, it almost seemed alive, as if it might suddenly start moving and whisper into my ear. The Eiffel Tower is a magical monument that I will never forget. Those days, were difficult days for me: two of my sisters were very ill, and I was in the midst of writing a new, major chapter in my life all while still possessing a burning desire to take on the world.

Thousands of people took to the streets in Lisbon and Porto on Saturday to protest against the rising cost of living and housing prices. The demonstrations—which were also planned for Aveiro, Braga, and Funchal—were organized by a platform called "We Can't Live Like This Anymore." Participants chanted slogans regarding wages and carried signs with messages such as "this salary isn't enough to live on." Others held up signs with slogans like "I want to move out of my parents' house before I turn 50." Teresa Fonseca, one of the participants in the Lisbon march, told the news agency Lusa that she had been inspired by similar protests recently held in Spain.

Trump. As the elections unfold in Brazil, many of his supporters worldwide are asking: what happened to Lula da Silva? During a recent major televised debate, Lula presented himself to the Brazilian public almost as a statesman—or, as international media outlets described it, a technocrat—standing in stark contrast to his rival. However, this approach lacked clarity. Bolsonaro, despite his limited experience, recognized his own advantage; he proved adept at dropping sensational headlines. Lula, meanwhile, needed to win over a portion of the 33 million people who typically abstain from voting—a group that might represent his only real chance of gaining an edge.

Footballer Luis Díaz reunited with father after kidnapping. Colombian football star Luis Díaz has been reunited with his father Luis Manuel Díaz who was released by rebels after holding him hostage for 12 days. The Liverpool striker and his father cried as they hugged each other for the first time after the kidnapping ordeal. Luis Manuel Díaz's abduction by the National Liberation Army (ELN) caused outrage in Colombia and abroad. The ELN said it had kidnapped the 58-year-old and his wife for ransom. The group quickly released his wife, Cilenis Marulanda, as police closed in but led the amateur football coach into the nearby mountains at gunpoint. The ELN leader described the abduction of the popular coach as a "mistake" but has insisted that kidnappings for ransom are not a breach of the ceasefire it signed earlier this year. The guerrilla group released Luis Manuel Díaz last Thursday to United Nations and Catholic Church officials. Later that day he was reunited with his wife and other family members, but it was not until now that he was able to embrace his footballer star son.
Luis Díaz has flown to Colombia to train with the national team ahead of its World Cup qualifier against Brazil on Thursday evening in Colombia. The player missed two of Liverpool's matches while his father was being held by the rebels but came off the bench during the English Premier League game against Luton on 5 November. After scoring a goal in stoppage time, he pulled up his Liverpool shirt to show a T-shirt underneath bearing the message "freedom for papa".

Mari Carmen was evicted amidst thousands of neighbors and a massive, peaceful demonstration outside her building in Madrid, Spain. It was an eviction that sparked nationwide protests over Spain's housing crisis and a political dispute that ultimately led Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to unexpectedly call for early general elections. Mari Carmen—an 87-year-old woman who had lived in her home for over 70 years—passed away yesterday. Her death has left all of us who followed this deeply sad and shameful story step-by-step in a state of shock; she fought ceaselessly for the right to keep the home from which she was ultimately forced out—transported by ambulance to a hospital where, just a couple of weeks later, she died. Mari Carmen leaves behind a movement now etched into the hearts of millions of Spaniards—and people around the world—who suffer because they can never truly call their home "their own." The housing crisis in Spain has reached a breaking point for millions of people who, like Mari Carmen, face the threat of eviction because they cannot afford high rents or will never be able to buy a home of their own. Spain's political leaders must set aside their differences to focus their wisdom and love for the country on saving its people—answering the outcry of millions of families who need protection and, even more importantly, the preservation of their homes and housing security within the wonderful Kingdom of Spain.
The people of Spain—especially the youth—are camping out in the famous Puerta del Sol in magnificent Madrid; over a thousand tents, occupied mostly by young students, have been set up in response to a national call from the Madrid and Spain Tenants' Unions. They seek significant relief to improve the housing situation in the Kingdom and to halt the rising number of people forced to make the open sky their only roof.
The Spanish government has announced a plan to ease the housing crisis amidst the public outcry over the eviction of Mari Carmen, an 87-year-old woman. One of the political partners supporting the government's investiture, "JUNTS," could determine the future of millions of Spanish citizens—including those in Barcelona and across the entire country—through their votes. Peaceful protests are the driving force behind this pressure from millions seeking relief from the housing struggles and ordeals faced by the vast majority of Spaniards. Very soon, these issues will be addressed in Spain's sacred legislative chamber: the Congress of Deputies.
We will also soon learn the new strategy of one of Europe's and the world's most prominent leaders—Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain—regarding his political future and that of his government. Attention will also focus on the future of these housing decrees and whether they can be made viable to improve the lives of all those in Spain who struggle daily with the cost of rent in the Kingdom. It is a true ordeal—one that, regrettably, the vast majority of people in Spain (and, sadly, around the world) endure, and which repeats itself twelve times a year.
The Kingdom of Spain is once again serving as a global example and beacon, striving to find every possible solution to the housing crisis—an issue that, alongside healthcare, food, education, and employment, ranks among the world's most critical challenges.
Today, the Congress of Deputies—led by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez—addressed the urgent demands of the vast majority of Spaniards regarding the housing situation in the Kingdom of Spain.

The tenant of the flat in the Retiro area of central Madrid, Maricarmen, was unable to pay the rent set by the investment firm that owns it. Maricarmen's father first rented the property in 1956 and she continued as the tenant after her parents died, during which time there was a cap on the rent. The first threads of inspiration came from the Spanish neuroanatomist Ramón y Cajal. He wanted to uncover something that no one had yet understood. He questioned; how does the brain engage in conversation with its counterparts? Exploring our central nervous system in microscopic detailing, Cajal documented his revolutionary findings through anatomical drawings that are considered amongst the world’s greatest scientific illustrations. Hunched over his microscope, he merged science with art and brought to life the threads of our enchanted biology to the human eye

The Spanish government warned that the crisis in Ceuta will drag on as long as there are migrants on the streets. "European border."
Periodico AMERICA Newspaper EUROPE by Mariana DAngelo :
Spain´s crisis: The border between Ceuta and Morocco is currently experiencing a period of extreme political and law-enforcement tension due to a report implicating Morocco in the migration crisis of late July.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez began his address to the plenary session few weeks ago at the Spain´s Congress by defending Ceuta and Melilla—cities that have been Spanish for centuries and which, the Spanish government has asserted, "will remain so until the end of time."
Alberto Núñez Feijóo delivered an angry rebuttal to Pedro Sánchez on Wednesday. The Prime Minister had appeared before the Congress of Deputies to address the legal storm engulfing him.
Pedro Sánchez has stated that he will demand an explanation as to why officers from the National Police's National Immigration and Border Center did not share with their superiors the contents of the report commissioned by the National Court regarding a matter "with potential implications for state security."
In his first appearance before Congress since tens of thousands of migrants entered Ceuta irregularly in late July, Sánchez began his speech by recalling a historical event to defend the Spanish status of the two autonomous cities.

Marc Marquez’s plan was clear: attack from the off. But after forgetting to disengage the rear ride-height device gave the #93 a scare through the opening sector, the reigning World Champion recovered, hit the front and managed the race to perfection – sealing a dream double on home soil and moving to within 19 points of the Championship lead. “Today I repeated the strategy from yesterday: attack in the first corner. But I made a big mistake because I forgot to disengage the rear device. On the warm-up lap, on the back straight, normally you activate it and then you need to remember to deactivate it for the start. I didn’t remember. “I made a perfect start and a perfect first corner, but when I went from the first to the second corner, the rear device was still engaged. The bike was super low through all of sector one. It was a scary moment and it made everything more difficult.
“There was a moment at the end of the straight where it felt like his bike was just sucking me in – we were completely attached. I tried to move to the right, but even in sixth gear I had a small wheelie. It was impossible to get away from his bike. “At one point Marco backed off a little because he was in the dirty air, and from that moment I was able to lead the race.
The set-up is similar. Yesterday morning I felt a little bit better and we tried putting more weight on the rear, but it made things more difficult in the Sprint. So we went back to more or less what we’ve been using for the rest of the season.

Global Weather Machine We live in an ocean of air, seething and flowing around us, changing-sometimes violently-every day. In the heart of this swirling machinery of rain clouds and jetstreams, hot desert winds and frozen arctic storms, there is one constant: change. A trillion and a half days have passed since the Earth was born in a spinning disk of stardust, and no two of those days have ever had the same weather.
What is weather?Driven by the heat of the sun, weather is an interlocking system of cycles. Water evaporates, rises, cools, and falls as rain, only to evaporate once again. The sun rises and sets every day, with the air warming and cooling in response, and the cycle endlessly repeating. Low pressure systems suck high pressure systems into their vacuum, creating spinning masses of wind and clouds bigger than Texas; these cyclones are swept across the skies by persistent high-speed winds miles up in the atmosphere, rivers of air in a relentless race around the globe. Weather, in all its cycles and clashes, arises from a simple fact: the sun heats some parts of the Earth more than others.Because the Earth is a globe, and not a flat board, the sun shines almost straight down on the tropics, baking them every day of the year. But at the poles, the angle is small and the sun's rays are weak, and the poles are therefore cold. Nature "abhors" this imbalance, and tries to fix it. As quickly as solar heat flows in to the tropics, it begins flowing out toward the poles, seeking to equalize the difference. The unrelenting march of this energy-on-the-move, from high concentration to low concentration, is the piston in the engine that propels weather. When warm air leaves the tropics and heads toward the poles, cold air from near the poles is sucked back toward the tropics. This exchange sets up two-lane highways for air rushing to and from the tropics. These highways of air are called convection cells, and they are the reason wind blows.

Spain: The Italian government disagrees with Spain’s immigration approach because Rome views Madrid's policies as too permissive and a threat to wider European border security. Unilateral Regularization: Italy criticized Spain for moving to regularize (grant legal status to) hundreds of thousands of undocumented foreign nationals. Stricter Enforcement: Italy advocates for tougher external border protection, fast-tracking migrant returns, and setting up secure processing centers outside the European Union.Political Divide: Right-wing leaders in Italy have used the situation to contrast Meloni's hardline border stance with the more flexible, left-leaning policies of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez
Spain's immigration approach.Spain champions large-scale migrant regularizations to support its aging labor market and uphold humanitarian standards, whereas Italy’s conservative government favors strict border security and argues that Spain's welcoming policies create an unsafe "pull factor" for the rest of Europe
Global Elections around the Globe: Voting rights for immigrants have grown significantly worldwide
As of 2020, noncitizens with appropriate legal status could vote at some level in about 50 residence countries, while citizens from 141 origin countries could vote from abroad. Noncitizen voting rights vary widely: New Zealand allows permanent residents to vote after just one year; Chile and Ecuador extend voting rights after five years; and 16 countries—including Algeria, Colombia, and Italy—reserve legislative seats exclusively to represent citizens abroad. In the United States, noncitizens are barred from federal and statewide elections, but a small number of municipalities permit noncitizen voting in certain local elections.
Spain’s Defense of Regularization and Human RightsEconomic Survival: Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's administration argues that immigration is vital to offset a shrinking workforce and maintain economic growth in an aging society.Integration Over Invisibility: Madrid views regularizing undocumented workers—such as large-scale permit programs launched to absorb hundreds of thousands of long-term residents—as a practical way to bring informal labor into the tax system, protect basic rights, and reduce exploitation.Humanitarian Commitments: Spain emphasizes compliance with international legal protections, asserting that treating migrants with empathy and legalizing established residents aligns with European values.

BBC SPORT; When Spain and Argentina meet in Sunday's World Cup final, the thought of lifting the famous trophy will be the only thing on the players' minds. However, the result at New York New Jersey Stadium could prove significant beyond crowning the world champions - it could effectively decide who wins the 2026 Ballon d'Or. The era of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo domination may be long gone, but in recent years there has still always been a clear favourite to scoop the prize. In 2026, it is different. There are plenty of contenders, although history tells us it is difficult to take top spot without also winning the Champions League or a major international tournament in the same year. Could the World Cup final decide who will earn the award - perhaps swinging it
the way of Lamine Yamal or Messi - or will the winner be someone else? In one of the tightest races in history, the decisive moment might not have happened yet. Biggest prizes usually precede Ballon d'Or Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe all put up extraordinary goalscoring numbers in 2025-26, but that is only one part of the story. More often than not, a nominee needs to win a major continental or international trophy. Only four of the past 19 Ballon d'Or wins have gone to a player who did not triumph in the Uefa Champions League, World Cup, European Championship or Copa America in the same year. Messi accounts for three of those (2010, 2012, 2019) and Ronaldo the other (2013).

evident is the strength Spain has shown in fostering better relations and solidarity between the European Union and Latin American nations; this becomes clear when observing Spain's internal and external political, social, and economic ties with the nations of the Americas—and especially with its Latin American "daughter nations." The solidarity and brotherhood of the "Mother Country"—as Spain is already recognized by millions of citizens across the Americas—are unmistakable and, above all, immense from any perspective.

According to a report by the digital outlet *América Economía*, Spain advocates that the European Union should look more toward Latin America and strengthen ties with a region that shares interests and values with Europe but—regrettably—has not received the attention it deserves in recent times. These points, among others, have been urged by Spain’s former Secretaries of State for Ibero-America— Juan Fernández Trigo. Francis Scott Key wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner" in September 1814 after witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore during the War of 1812. Inspired by the survival of the American flag, he penned a poem that was set to the tune of a popular British drinking song. It became the official U.S. national anthem in 1931
The Inspiration
(1814)During the War of 1812, American lawyer Francis Scott Key was detained on a British truce ship while negotiating the release of a prisoner. From the ship, he watched the overnight bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy. The next morning, through the clearing smoke, Key was deeply moved to see the massive American flag (sewn by Mary Pickersgill) still flying over the fort, signaling that the American forces had successfully defended it. He wrote a poem about the experience on the back of a letter, originally titling it "Defence of Fort McHenry"
The Melody
Key’s patriotic poem was published in local newspapers and quickly gained traction. It was eventually set to the music of "The Anacreontic Song," a popular tune composed by John Stafford Smith in the late 18th century for the Anacreontic Society, a gentlemen's music club in London.Official Adoption (1889–1931)Throughout the 19th century, the song steadily grew as a patriotic favorite and was notably used by the military during the Civil War.1889: The United States Navy officially recognized the song for ceremonial use.1916: President Woodrow Wilson signed an executive order designating it to be played at military occasions.1931: After a major push by patriotic organizations and intense debate in Congress (some argued it was too difficult to sing), President Herbert Hoover signed a congressional act on March 4, 1931, officially designating "The Star-Spangled Banner" as the national anthem of the United States.Would you like to know more about the original flag itself, the War of 1812 context, or the meanings behind all four of the original verses? Let me know how you'd like to proceed!
Oh, say, can you see By the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed At the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars Through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watched Were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets red glare The bombs bursting in air Gave proof through the night That our flag was still there Oh, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free And the home of the brave?

Irving Berlin wrote "God Bless America" in 1918 while serving in the U.S. Army at Camp Upton, New York. Initially shelved as a military comedy revue finale, it was retrieved and revised in 1938 as a plea for peace and famously debuted by Kate Smith on her Armistice Day radio broadcast
The 1918 Origins
Legendary songwriter Irving Berlin (born Israel Baline in Russia) originally composed the song in 1918 as a finale for a military revue titled Yip, Yip, Yaphank. After deciding the original iteration was too "sticky" and unsuited for a comedy show, he tucked it away into his "trunk" of unused musical ideas
The 1938 Revival
Two decades later, with the threat of Nazi Germany and rising tension in Europe, singer Kate Smith asked Berlin to provide an original song for her upcoming Armistice Day broadcast. Remembering his shelved tune, Berlin retrieved the manuscript, revised the lyrics to transform it from a military song into a solemn "prayer for peace," and added an introductory verse. [1, 2, 3, 4] Cultural Impact Smith's November 11, 1938, radio performance resonated instantly with a nation deeply anxious about impending global war. It became her signature track and quickly gained widespread status as an unofficial U.S. national anthem. Berlin—realizing it would be improper to profit from a patriotic ode—established the God Bless America Fund in 1940, directing all royalties to the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America

The estimate, calculated using the Rapid Digital Analysis tool known as RAPIDA, places the range of losses between $4.7 billion and $8.7 billion. The figure includes damage to homes and economic assets, but does not account for damage to infrastructure, disruption of economic activity, or long-term reconstruction costs.

Things you can do to cool someone down If someone has heat exhaustion, follow these 4 steps: Move them to a cool place. Remove all unnecessary clothing like a jacket or socks. Give them plenty of water to drink – you can also give them an isotonic sports drink or oral rehydration powder that you mix with water, which will help replace salt lost through sweating. Cool their skin – spray or sponge them with cool water and fan them. Cold packs, wrapped in a cloth and put under the armpits or on the neck are good too. Stay with them until they're better. They should start to cool down and feel better within 30 minutes.

Two massive earthquakes struck Venezuela in the space of just a few minutes on Wednesday night, bringing widespread devastation to the capital, Caracas, and surrounding towns. As powerful tremors collapsed high-rise buildings and flattened homes, terrified residents fled into the streets, fearing another major quake. Caution: Readers may find some video and images in this story distressing Both earthquakes struck to the west of Caracas - home to around 5 million people.. One of the worst hit regions was La Guaira state, which sits on the coast to the north of Caracas. Satellite imagery captured before and after the earthquakes show how several buildings in the area were completely destroyed. On the ground, it is clear that many of the buildings that are still standing have been damaged beyond repair. Thousands of people have been left homeless. In the aftermath of the tremors, people gathered in the streets trying to call loved ones or find more information on their phones.Rescue efforts continued through the night on Thursday as emergency teams and volunteers attempted to locate people in the rubble of collapsed buildings.
The second of the two earthquakes released around three times the energy of the first and is one of the most powerful earthquakes in South America in over a century. The extent of the damage means that for many people, life will not return to normal for some time France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland have already committed to sending rescue workers as international aid begins to mobilize.US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the American response to the disaster will be "big, it'll be fast, and it'll be effective." Meanwhile, both China and India have also announced they stand ready to provide assistance to Venezuela. Even where buildings weren't destroyed, the violent shaking has left local businesses having to clear up and repair extensive damageI. Two strong earthquakes that struck Venezuela within seconds of one another have caused untold damage to homes and buildings in several parts of the country, the deaths of at least 235 people and left hundreds more injured. The first earthquake - with a magnitude of 7.2 - struck at 18:0 The shaking, particularly from the second quake, caused buildings in Caracas and the nearby seaside city of La Guaira to be damaged or completely collapse. The second 7.5-magnitude quake hit in a similar location just 38 seconds later. The country's main international airport, on the outskirts of Caracas, has been closed due to serious damage, the Latin American nation's interim President Delcy Rodríguez said.
It's not just the magnitude of the earthquake that has a bearing on its destructive power, but how close to the surface it occurs, as well as the size of the nearby population and the quality of the buildings in the area.
The first quake was 20.3km below the surface and the second at a depth of just 10km, according to the USGS, increasing the likelihood of damage on the surface. The agency estimated a 44% chance of more than 10,000 deaths.
Venezuela lies along the boundary between the Caribbean and South American tectonic plates, which are moving past one another. The USGS says the sudden release of friction between these two plates is likely to have triggered the earthquakes.

Periodico AMERICA Newspaper EUROPE by Mariana DAngelo Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela last night, the United States is mobilizing immediate, life-saving resources as part of a rapid, government-wide response. In the hours after the earthquakes, President Trump immediately authorized the U.S. government to commit significant financial assistance, deploy search and rescue efforts, and collaborate with the interim Venezuelan authorities to address the acute needs of the Venezuelan people.
The Department of State’s rapid response emphasizes the critical nature of immediate life-saving interventions in the first hours following natural disasters in our hemisphere. The Department is deploying a regional Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), which includes two specialized urban search and rescue teams focused on locating and reaching survivors. Back in Washington, the Department has stood up a specialized Task Force to coordinate assistance with public and private sector partners, assess needs on the ground, and provide assistance to Americans who may be affected.
In addition to immediate search and rescue, airlift and coordination support, the U.S. is mobilizing $150 million in assistance to Venezuela through our assistance partners, drawing on $50 million in new bilateral awards to partners on the ground in Venezuela, including World Vision, Samaritan’s Purse, Catholic Relief Services, International Medical Corps, the International Organization for Migration, and the World Food Programme, plus a $100 million contribution to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Venezuela pooled fund. In addition to providing financial support, the Department is helping organizations to logistically coordinate and liaise with the interim authorities.
The Department is also working in close coordination with the Department of War (DoW), leveraging DoW’s unparalleled logistical and operational capabilities to support the rapid movement of response personnel, equipment, and humanitarian assistance into affected areas. With a large natural disaster like this, the first priority is securing logistics to facilitate the broader movement of relief goods and personnel into affected zones. DOW will leverage its fixed and rotor wing aircraft to provide specialized mobility services and to assist USG personnel, our search and rescue team, and partners to assess damage, find the injured, and deliver critical life-saving assistance.
A Swift, Integrated U.S. Government Response: The Department of State is the lead agency for the U.S. government response and has activated an interagency coordination cell, supported by robust engagement and coordination with DoW in securing logistics, leveraging military assets already positioned in the region, and deploying forward personnel to maximize response speed and effectiveness. The dedicated Venezuela Earthquakes Response Task Force—established within hours of the disaster—integrates expertise from acrossthe Department, including the

readiness and proven leadership. DART Deployment: The Department is deploying a regional DART to provide world-class disaster response expertise, technical and programmatic support, operational leadership, and real-time on-the-ground coordination. The DART consists of disaster experts from across the Department of State and is responsible for assessing conditions on the ground, identifying priority humanitarian needs, and leading the U.S. Government’s response to the disaster. The DART is working closely with existing Department assistance personnel, as well as diplomats in our Embassy, to coordinate with local authorities and partner organizations. Urban Search-and-Rescue Teams: The Department activated two urban search and rescue teams from the fire departments of Fairfax County, Virginia, and Los Angeles County, California. These teams, which are deployed as part of the DART, are the Department’s primary international search and rescue assets, each comprising highly trained personnel including firefighters, physicians, structural engineers, and canine search specialists. France24.com / US President Donald Trump on Friday showed off the new Air Force One, a formerly Qatari-owned jumbo jet that has been converted into the official US presidential aircraft.
The new aircraft eschews the Kennedy-era robin’s egg blue exterior of the old plane for a bolder look, with the underbelly of the plane painted navy blue with a red stripe above it. The plane's left side, where the president boards, features the presidential seal, while the tail of the aircraft has a massive American flag on it.
“This plane was transformed into a flying White House at a level of luxury that nobody has ever seen before,” Trump said from inside the massive Joint Base Andrews hangar, as a couple hundred assembled Air Force personnel looked on. He spoke after stepping off the new plane in a dramatic flourish, as his signature tune “God Bless the USA” played.

The United States welcomes the meeting today between Jorge Rodriguez as President of the National Assembly (AN) of 2026 and representative of the Venezuelan Interim Government, and 2015
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State / Press Statement / June 2026
This Month, I am designating five Cuban entities generating revenue for the Cuban regime, including three associated with the previously designated Grupo de Administración Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), and one member of the extended Castro family pursuant to President Trump’s Executive Order (E.O.) 14404 of May 1, 2026, “Imposing Sanctions on Those Responsible for Repression in Cuba and for Threats to United States National Security and Foreign Policy.”
GAESA continues to operate as the financial muscle behind the Cuban regime’s repressive security apparatus. Two of the entities designated today are GAESA-linked financial institutions associated with moving money on the regime’s behalf, and one is a GAESA-linked logistics company that executes the regime’s bidding across the island. I am also designating two additional entities generating revenue for Cuba through the exploitation of the island’s mineral and metal reserves, including Cuba’s state-owned GeoMinera. Finally, I am designating the wife of Alejandro Castro Espín, who himself was previously designated pursuant to E.O. 14404. These entities and actors fund, facilitate, or benefit from the regime’s malign activities, both in Cuba and across our hemisphere.
Venezuelan National Assembly President Dinorah Figuera to discuss an agenda that will serve as the roadmap for a political dialogue on a democratic transition.
The U.S. understands that this agenda includes key priorities such as rebuilding Venezuela’s democratic institutions, strengthening the CNE, reestablishing durable guarantees for political participation, and securing essential civic freedoms for open political discourse. The U.S. supports this dialogue led by the National Assembly of 2015, the last internationally recognized democratically elected entity in Venezuela, and the Interim Government. This is a first step in what will be a thoughtful process to secure a free and open Venezuelan society. The cornerstone of any democratic transition is inclusive dialogue. We look forward to continued conversations between Venezuela’s political parties and the Interim Government in the coming weeks in Caracas to formally begin their work. The U.S. stands behind a process focused on the important technical work that needs to be done to make this process work for all concerned, representing the interests of the Venezuelan people. That is the only way that Venezuela will have a more democratic and prosperous future.
Joint Statement on the Negative Impact of Road Blockades on Human Rights and Democracy in Bolivia 06/23/2026 01:46 PM EDT Office of the Spokesperson Joint Statement on the Negative Impact of Road Blockades on Human Rights and Democracy in Bolivia / The text of the following statement was released by the Governments of the United States of America, Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru.
Begin Text
We are deeply concerned by the effect of violent road blockades on democracy and the rule of law in Bolivia. The continued efforts to undermine and overthrow the legitimate and democratically elected government of President Rodrigo Paz represent a serious threat to constitutional order and democratic stability in the country and the hemisphere.
A violent minority attempts to disregard the will expressed by the majority of Bolivians at the polls only months ago, rejects the government’s willingness to engage in dialogue, and has maintained road blockades for more than seven weeks, depriving the Bolivian people of access to food, health care, fuel and other necessities. These actions have severely affected the daily lives of millions of citizens and put fundamental rights at risk. Furthermore, deaths of Bolivian civilians have been recorded as a result of restrictions on free transit on roads, which have prevented them from accessing medicines, hospitals or health centers in a timely manner. Separately, protesters have injured police officers in the line of duty. Violence cannot subvert the constitutional order.
We support the constitutionally elected Bolivian government and urge the mobilized groups to prioritize dialogue and negotiation within the established constitutional framework as a fundamental tool of democracy.
Defending freedom, democracy, and hemispheric security requires commitment and cooperation. Against this backdrop, we reaffirm our commitment to continue working to strengthen stability and preserve the democratic order in our region and stand in solidarity with President Paz’s democratic government and the people of Bolivia.

Spain is at "extreme risk" of new wildfires, the country's prime minister has warned, as firefighters continue to battle 14 major blazes. In a post on X, Pedro Sanchez said he expected Friday's conditions to be "very tough again" as he posted a graphic from the national weather agency Aemet warning of extreme fire risk in the north and west of the country.
Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 40C on the Spanish north coast, after more than 1,500 sq km (579 sq miles) were devastated by the flames and seven people died. A heatwave has scorched swathes of southeastern Europe this week, prompting wildfires in Spain, Portugal, Greece, France and the Balkans.
In Galicia, several fires merged to form a huge blaze, forcing the closure of highways and rail services to the region. Avincis, the largest operator of emergency aerial services in Europe, said it had registered a 50% increase from last year in flight hours dedicated to firefighting operations in Spain and Portugal so far this season, Reuters reported.

US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are meeting in Anchorage to discuss how to end the war in Ukraine.
The venue for the high-profile meeting is Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson - a US military installation on the northern edge of Alaska's most populated city.
The two leaders shook hands on the red carpet connecting their two planes on the base's tarmac, and appeared to exchange pleasantries. They then rode in Trump's limousine to the venue where their talks are taking place.
White House officials have said the base satisfied security requirements for hosting the two world leaders. And, during the height of summer tourism, there were few other options for the hastily arranged meeting.
Three rounds of talks between Russia and Ukraine this summer, held at Trump's behest, have yet to bring the two sides any closer to peace.
Here is what we know about the venue of these talks, and what we can expect from the meeting - as well as the key timings. He also announced the 2025 Kennedy Center Honorees, granted the Chinese an extension on tariff suspension while the parties continue to negotiate, commemorated the 90th anniversary of Social Security with a Proclamation, and announced no tariffs on gold.
In an effort to bring an end to the war in Ukraine, the President ended the week visiting Anchorage, Alaska to meet with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Both presidents said that the meeting was productive, and President Trump held and interview with Fox New’s Sean Hannity following the meeting. All of this increasingly occurs due to the worst heat waves that rage across the planet, creating wildfires in many countries around the world. Periódico America Newspaper By Mariana DAngelo When it is time for Baby Food after Breast milk?:
Baby food refers to food specifically formulated or prepared for human infants and young children, typically between the ages of six months and two years. It's designed to be easily consumed and digested by babies, as their digestive systems are still developing. This can include commercially produced, ready-made purees and mashes, or family food that has been modified for easier consumption.
Breast milk is generally considered the optimal nutrition for infants during their first year of life. It provides a unique blend of nutrients, antibodies, and other bioactive factors that support healthy growth, development, and immune function. While formula feeding is a viable alternative, it does not perfectly replicate the composition and benefits of breast milk.

"God Bless America" is an American patriotic song written by Irving Berlin during World War I in 1918 and revised by him in the run-up to World War II in 1938. The later version was recorded by Kate Smith, becoming her signature song.

AMERICA :This is the story behind “God Bless America.”The Song" This simple one-verse song became an overnight hit, and a hopeful song as war threatened. “It’s not a patriotic song,” composer Irving Berlin said in a 1940 interview, “but an expression of gratitude for what this country has done for its citizens, of what home really means.” Today, many Americans consider “God Bless America” an unofficial national anthem of the United States.
The life of Irving Berlin is a uniquely American success story. He was born Israel Baline in the Jewish village of Tyumen, in a harsh region of Russia known as Siberia. When he was about five, an anti-Jewish mob destroyed his family’s home, and the Balines set out for America. They settled on New York’s Lower East Side. Irving Berlin's father died when he was eight, and “Izzy” went to work selling newspapers to help support his family. As a young teen, he began singing in saloons and at some point taught himself piano. He began copying the musical styles of the day, and developed an incredible instinct for creating popular tunes that people loved to sing. A printing error on a published piece of sheet music left him with the name Irving Berlin, and that was the name he carried as he wrote song after song. In 1911, he wrote his first huge dance hit, “Alexander’s Ragtime Band.”
After that, Berlin’s career took off like a rocket. He wrote stage musicals and film scores, and produced hit after hit. Many are still sung today, including: “White Christmas,” “Blue Skies,” “Always,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,”“Heat Wave,” “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,”—and “God Bless America.” When describing his goal as a songwriter, Berlin said: “My ambition is to reach the heart of the average American…that vast intermediate crew which is the real soul of the country….My public is the real people.”
Kate Smith, one of the great singers of her day, had asked for a new number for her radio show. The year was 1938, and she was looking for something fresh to mark the 20th anniversary of the end of the Great War, what would later be called World War I. Irving Berlin had composer’s block. Berlin felt the urgency to deliver. He had recently returned from Europe, where catastrophe was brewing. Nazi Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, was growing more powerful and aggressive and seemed to be preparing for war. But Berlin wasn’t focused on writing a get-America-ready-for-war song. He wanted to create something to celebrate America as a special place to live. Then he remembered a song he had drafted years earlier. He pulled out an old trunk and dusted off the 20-year-old manuscript.
The God Bless America Foundation When it came to “God Bless America,” Irving Berlin and Kate Smith put their money where their mouths were. They donated all the royalties from the hit song to the Boy and Girl Scouts of America through the God Bless America Foundation. That arrangement is still in effect today. Other wartime songs would remind Americans what they were fighting against. Berlin’s “God Bless America” reminded them what they were fighting for.

The Americas, sometimes collectively called America, are a landmass comprising the totality of North America and South America. When viewed as a single continent, the Americas are the 2nd largest continent by area after Asia, and is the 3rd largest continent by population. The Americas make up most of the land in Earth's Western Hemisphere and constitute the New World.Along with their associated islands, the Americas cover 8% of Earth's total surface area and 28.4% of its land area. The topography is dominated by the American Cordillera, a long chain of mountains that runs the length of the west coast. The flatter eastern side of the Americas is dominated by large river basins, such as the Amazon, St. Lawrence River–Great Lakes, Mississippi, and La Plata basins. Since the Americas extend 14,000 km (8,700 mi) from north to south, the climate and ecology vary widely, from the arctic tundra of Northern Canada, Greenland, and Alaska, to the tropical rainforests in Central America and South America.Humans first settled the Americas from Asia between 20,000 and 16,000 years ago. A second migration of Na-Dene speakers followed later from Asia. The subsequent migration of the Inuit into the neoarctic c. 3500 BCE completed what is generally regarded as the settlement by the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Visa Restrictions for Central American Government Officials Exploiting Cuban Medical Professionals
Press Statement
June 3, 2025
Today, the Department of State took steps to impose visa restrictions on several Central American government officials and their family members for their nexus to the Cuban regime’s forced labor scheme. The officials are responsible for Cuban medical mission programs that include elements of forced labor and the exploitation of Cuban workers. These steps promote accountability for those who support and perpetuate these exploitative practices. The Cuban labor export program abuses the participants, enriches the corrupt Cuban regime, and deprives everyday Cubans of essential medical care that they desperately need in their homeland.
Our goal is to support the Cuban people in their pursuit of freedom and dignity, all while promoting accountability for those who contribute to a forced labor scheme. By pursuing these visa restrictions, the U.S. is sending a clear message about our commitment to promoting human rights and respect for labor rights worldwide. We encourage other nations to join us in this effort.

BBC : Zelensky confirms Ukraine troops in Russia's Belgorod region
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly acknowledged for the first time that his troops are active in Russia's Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.
"We continue to carry out active operations in the border areas on enemy territory, and that is absolutely just - war must return to where it came from," he said on Monday.
His comments also referred to Russia's Kursk region, where Ukraine still holds a small area after a major offensive last year. Moscow has since retaken most of the territory.
Zelensky said "the main objective" was to protect Ukraine's Sumy and Kharkiv border regions, and to "ease the pressure" on other parts of the vast front line, particularly in the eastern Donetsk region.
Russia's military had last month reported Ukrainian attempts to cross over into the Belgorod region - but said such attacks had been rebuffed. The areas in question are only a short distance inside Russian territory.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and Moscow currently controls about 20% of Ukraine's territory.
The Kremlin has rejected US and European allegations that it is dragging its feet on US President Donald Trump's push for a ceasefire in the war.
Trump told reporters late on Monday that he was "not happy about what's going on", accusing Russia of "bombing like crazy right now". Zelensky's home city of Kryvyi Rih held funerals earlier for 20 people, including nine children, who were killed in a Russian missile attack last Friday.
In his video address late on Monday, Zelensky said he had been briefed by his top commander Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi about the situation on the front, "including our presence in the Kursk and Belgorod regions".
Zelensky thanked several army units defending Ukraine, including the 225th Assault Regiment deployed in the Belgorod region.
"Well done, guys! I'm proud of each and every one who is fighting for Ukraine!" the president said.
He provided no further details. It is his first explicit acknowledgement of Ukrainian troops in Belgorod.
On 18 March, Zelensky had indirectly confirmed that Ukrainian troops were there.
"There is an operation there," he said when asked by reporters to comment on a Russian defence ministry statement that Ukrainian troops had unsuccessfully tried to enter the western part of the Belgorod region.

Marco Rubio travel to Europe March 31, 2025
The US's top diplomat has said he will know "in a matter of weeks, not months" whether Vladimir Putin is serious about peace and a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Speaking after a meeting of Nato foreign ministers in Brussels, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said ending the war is a decision that will "ultimately" have to be made by the Russian President.
This follows similar comments from his British and French counterparts on Friday morning on the sidelines of the Nato meeting, who also accused Putin of continuing to "drag his feet" and his bombardment.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities said Russian strikes overnight in Kharkiv killed at least five, and a ballistic missile attack later on Kryvyi Rih killed 12.
AMERICA NEWSPAPER by Mariana DAngelo Due to its historical and cultural importance, the region near Tequila was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006,
The red volcanic soils in the region of Tequila are well suited for growing the blue agave, and more than 300 million plants are harvested there each year. Agave grows differently depending on the region. Blue agaves grown in the highlands Los Altos region are larger and sweeter in aroma and taste. Agaves harvested in the valley region have a more herbaceous fragrance and flavor. Due to its historical and cultural importance, the region near Tequila was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006, the Agave Landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila.

The Pacific ocean meets wine country in Santa Barbara, which is nicknamed the American riviera (and for good season). Visiting this jewel of the west coast is akin to traveling to a seaside town in Portugal, Spain, or France.
Why is Spanish so popular in the US? The reason for this is that the Spanish were busy colonizing America well before the English founded Jamestown. Spanish explorers first set foot in what would become the United States in the 16th century, and founded a permanent colony at St. Augustine in Florida, in 1565
Is moving to Spain a good idea?
Good quality of life: Spain consistently earns its place among the top nations for quality of living, thanks to its quality healthcare system, affordable cost of living, and pleasant environment. This is reflected in its ranking within the top ten countries on the Quality of Life Index.
Why do people love Spain?
Because Spain is a world leader in heritage sites
Spain has 48 Unesco-recognised biosphere reserves. These include islands such as La Palma and La Gomera, glacier valleys such as Somiedo and Redes in Asturias, desert landscapes such as the Cabo de Gata in Almería, and gulfs and rias such as the Ebro Delta.
Is Spain the healthiest country in the world?
Maybe it's something in the gazpacho or paella, as Spain just surpassed Italy to become the world's healthiest country. That's according to the 2019 edition of the Bloomberg Healthiest Country Index, which ranks 169 economies according to factors that contribute to overall health.
Mexican laws state that tequila can be produced only in the state of Jalisco and limited municipalities in the states of Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas. Tequila is recognized as a Mexican designation of origin product in more than 40 countries. It was protected through NAFTA in Canada and the United States until July 2020 and through bilateral agreements with individual countries such as Japan and Israel, and it has been a protected designation of origin product in the European Union since 1997.
Aside from its geographical distinction, tequila is differentiated from other varieties of mezcal in that all of the agave used in tequila is blue agave, and the methods of production are different. Tequila is commonly served neat in Mexico and as a shot with salt and lime around the world. Tequila must have between 35% and 55% alcohol content (70 and 110 U.S. proof).
Prior to the production of either tequila or mezcal, pulque had been brewed from agave sap for thousands of years. However, pulque is only fermented, not distilled.
The distillation technology to produce mezcal from agave heart juice was first introduced by Filipino sailors and migrants into the coastal regions of what was then Nueva Galicia (present-day Aguascalientes, Colima, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nayarit, and Zacatecas). Mezcal distillation then spread into the highland valleys of Amatitán, Tequila, Magdalena, and El Arenal in the mid-1700s. The mezcal produced in these regions became distinctive enough as to become known as "tequila" (after the town).
Don Pedro Sánchez de Tagle is considered the first person to produce tequila. In 1595, King Philip II of Spain banned the planting of new vineyards in Mexico and other Spanish colonies due to the decline of wine trade with Spain. The main reason behind this is because Mexico is self-sufficient in producing its own wines. The king did this to maintain the market for Spanish products in the New World, and reap the taxes on Spanish wine exports. The Marquis of Altamira grabbed the opportunity of the neglected blue agave plants. He built his first Tequila factory in his Hacienda Cuisillos, one of the largest haciendas during that time and amassed a great fortune.

Restoring a Tough U.S.-Cuba Policy
01/31/2025 06:51 PM EST
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State
Within the first two weeks of President Trump’s term, the State Department took decisive action to rescind major last-minute policy changes on Cuba announced by the previous administration on January 14.
The President acted on his first day in office to keep Cuba on the SST list, where it belongs. The Cuban regime has long supported acts of international terrorism. We call for the regime to end its support for terrorism, and to stop providing food, housing, and medical care to foreign murderers, bombmakers, and hijackers, while Cubans go hungry and lack access to basic medicine.
In a January 29 letter to the appropriate Congressional committees, I withdrew the prior administration’s letter regarding the LIBERTAD Act. The Trump Administration is committed to U.S. persons having the ability to bring private rights of action involving trafficked property confiscated by the Cuban regime.
On January 31, I approved the re-creation of the Cuba Restricted List, which prohibits certain transactions with companies under the control of, or acting for or on behalf of, the repressive Cuban military, intelligence, or security services or personnel. The State Department is re-issuing the Cuba Restricted List to deny resources to the very branches of the Cuban regime that directly oppress and surveil the Cuban people while controlling large swaths of the country’s economy. In addition to restoring the entities that were on the list until the final week of the previous administration, we are adding Orbit, S.A., a remittance-processing company operating for or on behalf of the Cuban military.
The State Department promotes accountability for the Cuban regime for oppressing its people and rejects Cuba’s malign interference across the Americas and throughout the world. We support the Cuban people’s human rights and fundamental freedoms and demand the release of all unjustly detained political prisoners. Our Embassy in Havana is meeting with families of those unjustly detained, as well as dissidents, so that they know the United States wholeheartedly supports them. We are steadfast in our commitment to the Cuban people and promote accountability for the Cuban regime’s actions.

Begin Text:
Today marks four years since the Myanmar military regime overthrew the democratically elected government in Myanmar, creating one of the largest crises in the Indo-Pacific. Since the coup, the people of Myanmar remain subject to military rule that has deprived many of their rights, democratic aspirations and, for thousands, their liberty and their lives.
We condemn in the strongest terms the Myanmar military regime’s escalating violence harming civilians, including human rights violations, sexual and gender-based violence, and systematic persecution and discrimination against all religious and ethnic minorities. The military’s airstrikes are killing civilians, destroying schools, markets, places of worship and medical facilities; with almost a 25-fold increase since 2021 this represents an average of three airstrikes per day. The rise in airstrikes in areas with no active conflict has marked a clear escalation by the military.
We call on the Myanmar military regime to immediately de-escalate violence, ensure unhindered and safe humanitarian access across the country, and we urge all parties to prioritize the protection of civilians and fully adhere to International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law.
As of 2025, humanitarian needs have increased twenty-fold since the coup. Over one-third of the population, 19.9 million people, are now in need of humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs. An estimated 15.2 million people are in need of food assistance and cases of preventable diseases are on the rise.
Increasing needs and ongoing conflict have displaced up to 3.5 million people internally – an increase of nearly one million in the last year. Many more people are forced to flee across Myanmar’s borders. Rising transnational crime, including narcotics production and trafficking, scam centres and human trafficking, harm the people of Myanmar and affect neighbouring countries, risking instability in the broader region.
The current trajectory is not sustainable for Myanmar or the region. Now is the time for the Myanmar military regime to immediately change course. We strongly urge the Myanmar military regime to cease violence, including harming civilians and civilian infrastructure, release all political prisoners, and engage in genuine and inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders. These are essential first steps towards any peaceful, democratic transition, reflecting the will of Myanmar’s people.
We reiterate our support for the central role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Five Point Consensus, including the ASEAN Chair’s Special Envoy, in addressing the Myanmar and resultant refugee crisis. We strongly welcome collaboration between the ASEAN and United Nations (UN) Special Envoys. We call on the international community to continue to support the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2669 (2022). We underline the need for accountability for all atrocities committed in Myanmar, human rights must be safeguarded, violations and abuses must be prevented.
We will continue to stand in solidarity with the people of Myanmar and support their vision for an inclusive, peaceful and prosperous future.

¡¡Nuestros corazones deben enseñar a nuestros ojos a ver y a nuestro cerebro a pensar !!.
